Close Doors

Close Doors lets you pause new joins without removing the community for existing members. As of July 2026, Skool described a closed group as temporarily absent from Discovery while its underlying statistics continued to be calculated.

Skool has not published exactly how a closed group returns to its Discovery position, so do not plan around a precise rank.

What it is

Close Doors is a capacity control. It is useful when you need time to support current members, prepare the next cohort, or fix the joining experience before accepting more people.

How it works

• New visitors see that the group is closed instead of the usual join action.
• Existing members keep using the community.
• The group is removed from Discovery while closed.
• Skool described reopening as restoring the group to its previous Discovery position, but you should verify that behavior before relying on it.

Best practice

1. Choose a clear reason and reopening date.
2. Tell current members what remains available, including whether billing continues.
3. Save a private snapshot of traffic and Discovery performance before closing.
4. Reopen deliberately, then compare visibility, joins, conversion, and support load.

Pitfalls

• Do not use a misleading price or neglected join requests as a substitute for closing.
• Do not promise that rank will be preserved until you have confirmed the current behavior.
• Do not imply permanent scarcity when the pause is temporary.
